​I trained in Canada but have spent over 25 years working in New Zealand with non-profit agencies, hospital boards, as a university lecturer, and in full-time private practice for over 17 years.
I specialise in: 
  • Men’s psychological health & wellness
  • ​Young adult, adolescent, and child & family counselling & psychotherapy
  • ​Ante-Post Natal Psycho-Education and Support for expectant and new parents, especially new Fathers which has been my main area of research for the past 20 years.
  • Developmental & lifespan psychology and adjustment to change and life’s transitions and rites of passage
  • Grief, loss and trauma experiences
  • The psychology of aging well & redirection/retirement & elderhood
  • Working with Only Children
Some career highlights include:
  • Working at the excellent Psychoanalytic York Child Guidance Clinic at The Institute of Child Study (University of Toronto) whilst I was at Graduate School (1989/99).
  • Completing my Master’s Level Post Graduate Diploma in Child Studies (Child Assessment & Counselling, 1989) focusing on the provision and integration of play and family therapy and psychological child and family assessments.
  • Immigrating to New Zealand in 1991 and worked at Auckland Family Counselling and Psychotherapy till 1995, and then returned to Vancouver, Canada and worked in government Child and Mental Health Services till 1999.

I am still actively involved in the NZ Men’s Community and Sporting Community (Ultimate Frisbee, Touch Rugby), happily married to a New Zealander and the father of two young adults. ​
  • Returned to Auckland New Zealand in 1999 and started my private practice, whilst also lecturing at the Auckland University of Technology Department of Psychotherapy and Applied Psychology.
  • Designing the program New Born Fathers and supported expectant and news dads from 2002-2014. Consulted with Maternal Mental Health, Waitemata.
  • Being a founding member of Psychotherapy @ Apollo Health & Wellness Centre Albany.
  • Working full time in my own private practice and being part of a great medical centre/team at Medplus Hauraki.
  • Designed and created Crossroads Group for
    Young Men in transition to Adulthood.
  • Founding member of Apollo (2003).
  • Full time Private Practice (2011).
